Aristotle’s Influence on Narrative in Films/Games/TV Edit

Aristotle has been a huge influence to the movie industry and has given us characteristics to what we know as the ‘Hollywood Formula’:

  • Plot
  • Character
  • Story
  • Dialogue

I agree with Aristotle in The Truman Show. Jim Carrey portrays the character Truman Burbank. The character’s life is very abnormal. He hasn’t got the same life as everyone else because he doesn’t live in the ‘real world’. He is afraid of water. This is his flaw. The set design is very important as it is used to manipulate Truman’s world which he lives in. The dialogue plays a big part. It helps the story in any context flow along.

The book I will be talking about is called The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. The plot in this book is the most important part of the formula used. The character has many flaws in his life. An Example would be he doesn’t like to move so many yards away from his home. He thinks logically.

Aristotle does play a big influence in the world today and I hope to have helped with The Truman Show & The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.
